MEDIA ADVISORY

“A WINDOW TO ISLAM” SYMPOSIUM AT 36th ICNA-MAS ANNUAL CONVENTION

Building Bridges to a Peaceful Future

The Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) in collaboration with the Muslim American Society (MAS), will be organizing its 36th annual convention in Hartford, CT, from May 28th through May 30st, 2011. The three day annual event draws close to 15,000 delegates from across the nation and features renowned speakers and community leadership.

The convention will host a one day symposium on Saturday May 28th, A Window to Islam, for individuals of all faiths. It will explore aspects of Islam such as the approach to Family challenges, an open Q&A session, and several other topics that are pertinent today. The symposium as well as the Q&A session will be geared towards fulfilling a growing need for accurate information on Islam and Muslims.

Islam, the religion of approximately 7 million Americans and about 1.2 billion worldwide enjoins faith in One God, peace, and humility as well as social, communal and family values. Despite being part of the American milieu since the founding of the nation, Islam remains widely misunderstood in America.  The symposium will address the prevailing myths and misconceptions that are fueling Islamophobia.  The diverse interactive gathering would be an opportunity for people of various faiths and backgrounds to discuss a range of socio-religious issues pertaining to Islam and America. The program features informative sessions, extensive Q&A, Cultural Bazaar, Art Exhibitions, Free Evening Dinner, Cross Culture Interaction, Live Nasheed (Islamic Songs), and much more!

The objective of this event is to promote dialogue between different cultures and faiths. Every year thousands of people from diverse backgrounds and ethnicities participate in such events.  It is our hope that through an open dialogue we will understand each other’s faith and thereby contribute towards a more peaceful and tolerant society.

The danger here is usually that they’re going to click on people ads and not any of the ads associated to your weblog.
